Worksheet 8 Classwork 4 by Dominic Wong (08) & Nicholas Kuu (09)

Mary is 26 years younger than her mother
In 3 years' time, her age will be one-third of her mother's age
Find Mary's present age

Let Mary's age be x, so mother's age is 26 + x
(x+3) x 3 = (26+x+3)
3x + 9 = 29+x
2x = 20
x = 10

Check:
10+26=36
36+3=39
10+3=13
39/13=3
Check : Correct
